The Arts and Culture Advocates of Zambia (ACAZ) strive towards a defined foresighted, strong and determined movement for the sustainable development of Arts and Culture in Zambia and the region. The Advocacy is working towards prosperous Arts and Cultural sector that is not appreciated as a mere instrument in the political and economic growth agenda but as constitutive of human development that is a key factor of empowerment and identity building within the creative diversity of world arts and cultures.
ACAZ realises the dynamic and diverse nature of arts and culture and the central role they play in the current world-wide agenda for socio-economic, spiritual and political well-being of humanity. Accordingly, the Advocacy does not only explore new ideas in the sector but advocate for policy makers to take them into strategy and action given that the Arts and Culture largely remain as ‘any other business agenda item’ of the government as reflected in the level of resources and status in the ministries and civil servants who oversee it (UNESCO, 1998).
